Primary Functions

The Services Specialist will develop and manage customer relationships directly, as well as indirectly, through outside and inside sales and support staff.  The Specialist will provide technical training and value-added solutions, product pricing and availability directly to customers as well as to customers via other Horizon personnel.

 

The Services Specialist is responsible for the marketing and sales of technical support services and training services including Horizon’s and vendors technical support and training resources and solutions, with the objective of increased sales, gross and net profit and exceptional customer service.

 

As a part of the sales team, the Services Specialists consults with customers to identify and design a training, support or maintenance solution to meet the customer’s needs.  Responsible for the proposal and sale of support, training and technical solutions that maximize Horizon’s and Vendors Training services; Field and Technical support.

 

The Services Specialist is Horizon’s primary technical support for training services, technical and maintenance on site and phone support service and emergency preventative plans.  This position provides technical consultation and assistance to customers and Horizon outside sales staff and will research training solutions/technical questions with product vendors.

 

Develop and maintain an in-depth knowledge of electrical product lines and associated services, including automation products, with the desire and ability to add value to the customer’s processes.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

  • Functions in partnership with the Account Management and Inside Sales staff to differentiate Horizon and provide superior Technical Solutions, Training and Added Value Services for electrical and automation customers.
  • Develop and implement proactive sales strategies, business development plans and marketing programs/goals, both short and long range that provide profit growth and expansion of Horizon’s and vendor’s technical services and support, within an assigned market/geography.
  • Consult with customer to identify opportunity for Horizon value added technical service, support and solutions.  Develop proposal and sell training, technical services and technical support for automation products.  May design and customize training services; maintenance plans and technical support programs. 
  • Analyze and identify market and customer needs; determine appropriate training or support solutions, propose, coordinate and implement solutions.
  • Act as Horizon’s primary training and education support representative and liaison to initiate and develop mutually beneficial, long-term relationships with existing customers and prospective new customers.
  • Monitor competitive trends and activity within the customer base/territory and make recommendations for competitively superior programs, services and technical support.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering along with previous sales experience required.
  • Experience and track record of successful execution of a Technical Services and Support sales process and previous sales or direct sales support experience required.  Experience with value added selling process required.
  • Must have an in-depth background and experience with automation products, services, training and solutions.  Rockwell Automation product and/or services knowledge and experience a plus.
  • Technical knowledge of Horizon's Electrical Products, Services and Product Applications is desired together with an understanding of preventative, predictive and reactive concepts to support facility uptime required.
  • Ability to influence and negotiate with a wide variety of individuals required; broad understanding of business processes, systems and structures preferred.  
  • Ability to plan and prioritize tasks and ability to use business system software to retrieve and update information.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
