Primary Functions

The 3M Services Specialist will develop and manage customer relationships directly, as well as indirectly, through outside and inside sales and support staff.  The 3M Specialist will provide technical training and value-added solutions, product pricing and availability directly to customers as well as to customers via other Horizon personnel and be the key point of contact to create a collaborative relationship between 3M and Horizon Solutions.


The 3M Services Specialist is responsible for the marketing and sales of technical support services and training services including Horizon’s and 3M's technical support and training resources and solutions, with the objective of increased sales, gross and net profit and exceptional customer service.


As a part of the sales team, the 3M Services Specialists consults with customers to identify design a training, support or maintenance solution to meet the customer’s needs. Responsible for the proposal and sale of support, training and technical solutions that maximize Horizon’s and Vendors Training services; Field and Technical support.


The 3M Services Specialist is Horizon’s primary technical support for training services, technical and maintenance on site and phone support service and emergency preventative plans. This position provides technical consultation and assistance to customers and Horizon outside sales staff and will research training solutions/technical questions with product vendors.


Develop and maintain an in-depth knowledge of 3M product lines and associated services with the desire and ability to add value to the customer’s processes.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement proactive sales strategies, business development plans and marketing programs/goals, both short and long range that provide profit growth and expansion of Horizon’s and vendor’s technical services and support, within an assigned market/geography.
  • Consult with customer to identify opportunity for Horizon value added technical service, support and solutions.  Develop proposal and sell training, technical services and technical support for 3M products. May design and customize training services; maintenance plans and technical support programs.
  • Analyze and identify market and customer needs; determine appropriate training or support solutions, propose, coordinate and implement solutions.
  • Act as Horizon’s primary training and education support representative and liaison for 3M to initiate and develop mutually beneficial, long-term relationships with existing customers and prospective new customers.
  • Monitor competitive trends and activity within the customer base/territory and make recommendations for competitively superior programs, services and technical support.  Attend training as per 3M requirements for position.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in a technical field along with previous sales experience preferred.
  • Experience and track record of successful execution of a Technical Services and Support sales process and previous sales or direct sales support experience required. Experience with value added selling process preferred.
  • Ability to influence and negotiate with a wide variety of individuals required; broad understanding of business processes, systems and structures preferred.
  • Ability to plan and prioritize tasks and ability to use business system software to retrieve and update information.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to frequently lift up to 25 lbs and occasionally lift 50 lbs. Frequent use of keyboard and sitting, bending, and stooping.
